The National Youth Agency: Take your partners for a dance that's offthe wall

London Youth and the Stacked Wonky Dance Company used their National Youth Agency Partners in Innovation grant to deliver a dance and film project to young men in the inner-city areas of London.

The aim was to engage more young men in dance-based activities, to counter the fact that the genre of dance is more traditionally female-based.

They also sought to avoid the more frequently trod route of involving only modern-dance techniques. Instead they brought in alternative dance company Stacked Wonky, and used some types of movement that were already familiar to participants, such as football, boxing, skateboarding and even combat.
