The National Youth Agency: Showcasing research led by young people

1 min read
The Young Researcher Network (YRN) has been encouraging and supporting 15 young people-led projects over the past year in carrying out research projects.

It is a new initiative - co-ordinated through The National Youth Agency - giving impetus to new groups of young researchers. It has provided avenues for young people to build new skills and confidence, exchange information and spark new friendships, while framing an informed and critical "voice" to influence and shape policy.

On 14 and 15 November the network is holding a conference at Warwick University, Coventry, to showcase the research completed by network partners; press forward with its campaigns; and to support and encourage the growth in young people-led research.

Dr Darren Sharpe, Young Researcher Network co-ordinator at The NYA, said: "This conference is a testament to the quality of work produced by young researchers. It will include young people-led workshops reporting on research carried out by the network over summer 2008, and the implications for policy makers and practitioners. It will also allow delegates to learn more about involving young people in research. The NYA is proud to be hosting such an event."

External delegates (£69.95 each) can attend on Saturday 15 November. Friday 14 November is open to YRN partners only. To book or find out more contact Antoinette Long on 0116 242 7465 or email antoinettel@nya.org.uk. Also book online at www.nya.org.uk/youngresearcher network.
