The National Youth Agency: National newspaper has young people quizzing Education Secretary

1 min read
A special supplement published in The Guardian on 15 April had young people writing on the issues that affect them.

Young people from The National Youth Agency's (NYA) Young Researcher Network (YRN) have quizzed Children's Secretary Ed Balls for the feature, asking his views on the way young people are portrayed in the media and what the government will do to provide better facilities.

Other questions on the agenda included the availability and cost of local transport - the Secretary of State was asked if he supported an amendment to the Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Bill going through Parliament that would force local transport authorities to consider young people's transport needs better.

The young reporters also wanted to know what the biggest challenge in ensuring marginalised groups are involved and co-operate in an annual celebration event about young people is, and what one significant change to the lives of children in his time as the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families in the past two years he is most proud of.
