The National Youth Agency: Empowerment - Warwick residential seeslaunch of Young Researcher Network

1 min read
Designed to encourage, support and value research led by young people, the Young Researcher Network (YRN) was officially launched by The National Youth Agency at a residential conference held at Warwick University in December 2007.

The YRN's aim in 2008 is to empower young people and raise their voice and influence on matters that affect their lives.

The conference brought together 14 of the 15 network partners from across England. Partners include a strong variety of organisations, including Barnado's and the UK Youth Parliament. Each of the partner projects was represented by at least two workers and three or four young researchers. They shared in two days of fun, learning and guidance in how to undertake real world research.

Until March 2009, YRN partners will receive access to ongoing research training and research grants to undertake an agreed piece of young people-led research, ending with the YRN conference at the end of 2009. Only network partners are eligible to apply for research grants through the YRN. For more information contact Antoinette Long on 0116 242 7465 or at antoinettel@nya.org.uk.
