The National Youth Agency: Review calls for youth work to be valued

New on The National Youth Agency's website is its annual review for the financial year April 2007 to March 2008, detailing the steps the organisation has been taking towards delivering greater benefits to young people through youth work.

Writing in the foreword of the review retiring NYA chair, Bishop Roger Sainsbury, says: "Good youth work needs to be valued. At my final board meeting I was able to celebrate 50 years of involvement in youth work. I have seen the value over those years of good youth work and have campaigned that government at both national and local level recognises its value and gives it adequate financial support.

"Because of our campaigning for a statutory youth service, The NYA is sometimes portrayed as having little interest in the voluntary sector. In fact we are committed to the development of good youth work in both the voluntary and statutory sector."
