The National Youth Agency: Report issued on the impact ofnon-formal awards in e2e

1 min read

The report discovered that several of the projects experienced difficulties in training all e2e delivery staff involved with the non-formal awards.

It is clear that one-off training events are insufficient and that work needs to be done to increase knowledge and awareness among e2e providers about awards. There have been some concerns about the length of time taken to moderate work and issue certificates, bringing the danger that some learners may leave e2e with no record of achievement.

The Learning and Skills Council has created a code to identify learners and create individualised learner records. The idea is to monitor the progression route of all individuals involved, but it has become clear that not all participating providers are using the system, as by July 2004 only 156 learners had appeared in the data. The NYA is keen to highlight the importance of using this code to ensure that full data is ultimately available.
