The National Youth Agency: Entry to Employment programme preparesto launch pilot projects

Entry to Employment (e2e) was nationally established in August 2003 as a programme on the work-based learning route specifically designed to cater for those young people not yet ready to enter an apprenticeship programme or employment. A typical e2e curriculum should comprise three strands: basic/key skills; personal and social development; and vocational skills and knowledge.

The clear potential for non-formal learning to contribute to the e2e curriculum has been recognised, and the national LSC has contracted members of the Network for Accrediting Young People's Achievement to deliver informal education awards in seven areas as part of a research project. The pilots will involve up to 2,500 e2e learners before July 2005. The pilots are as follows:
