The National Youth Agency: Report highlights key findings from youth celebration pilots

1 min read
A new report from The National Youth Agency (NYA) highlights the key findings and major recommendations from a series of events celebrating young people's achievements.

The report, available on The NYA website at www.nya.org.uk, says leadership from the top was a key factor in the success of the pilot programmes of Youth Celebration Events. The number of elected members and the range of local services represented at the events provided an excellent platform to extend positive images and views of young people.

Aiming High for Young People, the Department for Children, Schools and Families' 10-year strategy for positive activities, published in 2007, acknowledged that young people are faced with the challenge of growing up in a culture that has widespread negative perceptions of young people. It committed to do more to rebalance public perception by celebrating young people's achievements.
