More than 30 young people from Rainer projects across the south of England got together to discuss ways they could contribute to the running of their services. Bill Badham from The National Youth Agency helped facilitate sessions.
Karrol, 18, from Rainer City Training in Portsmouth felt that being involved in evaluating her service had made her take responsibility for her learning.
She said: "I started to feel proud, like I could make a difference and I liked the fact that I'd been listened to."
Others said sitting on interview panels was a great way of making sure the right person got the job. Natalie, 20, from Surrey 16 Plus, said: "If anyone knows what should make a good social worker then I do. I've known enough of them in my life. It was great that the panel took my comments into account."
