Participation: Rainer adopts Hear by Right standard

Rainer, the charity for under-supported young people, has become the first national voluntary organisation to fully adopt Hear By Right, the youth participation standard developed by the National Youth Agency.

Designed to assess and improve children and young people's involvementin the services they use, Hear By Right is already widely used acrosscentral government, local authorities and Connexions.

Beck Dabscheck, service user involvement policy officer at Rainer, said:"Hear By Right will ensure that young people's decisions filter throughthe whole organisation."

Young people's involvement in Rainer's work will vary. Dabscheckexplained how in some cases young people would lead the process to letservices know which areas need to be focused on, while in others staffmight take the lead.
