The National Youth Agency: Heritage takes centre stage at firstYoung Roots conference

With presentations from young people and successful projects delegates were given the opportunity to explore good practice in engaging young people in heritage. Delegates listened as projects highlighted the need for:

- Allowing young people to define heritage for themselves

- Engaging young people in project planning and delivery

- Effective partnerships between the youth work sector and heritage agencies.

- Introducing creative methods for researching and interpreting heritage

It is hoped that the event will generate new partnerships between the youth work and heritage sectors and increase the number of quality grant applications received by the Heritage Lottery Fund. A competition was held to encourage delegates to think about future project ideas. Ideas included:
