PUGILISTS Lead Agency: Rural Media Company Partners: Herefordshire Library and Museum Service, Herefordshire Amateur Boxing Club, and Herefordshire Youth Offending Team
PROJECT
Some 50 young people aged 13 to 20 will work with media and heritage specialists to bring to life the conditions of a rural county in the 19th Century. The project will focus on the life of Tom Spring, a bare-knuckle boxing champion whose biography has recently been published, and will look at issues of power and privilege, aggression, gender and the life of agricultural labourers. A film and exhibition will be produced.
