The National Youth Agency: Findings show services are playingpositive role

1 min read

The analysis of Ofsted's 35 Joint Area Reviews and 102 Annual Performance Assessments held during 2006 also shows that youth services have an important role to play in helping young people to make a positive contribution to their communities and to stay healthy.

The findings indicate that many youth services are taking the lead across their local authority area on the positive contribution strand of Every Child Matters through supporting involvement in decision-making and shaping local services, volunteering and reducing antisocial behaviour.

Further evidence shows many services are successful in providing programmes to help young people develop the skills and confidence to return to employment, training or learning. l The full briefing paper is available at www.nya.org.uk.
