The National Youth Agency: Consultation open for ContactPointguidance

Previously known as the Information Sharing Index, ContactPoint is aiming to provide a quick way for authorised practitioners to find out who else is working with the same child or young person.

Once contacted by authorised workers, local information-sharing protocols and professional judgment will govern what information is shared and with whom.

For every child and young person up to the age of 18, ContactPoint will hold basic identifying information, contact details for those services involved with the individual, and a means of identifying a lead professional involved.

Sarah Hargreaves, of The NYA, said: "Responding to the consultation is important because young people need to know it exists and of their rights in relation to it. Also, youth workers and managers need to know about putting their details on ContactPoint and accessing information.
