Writing in the foreword to the document, The NYA's Sarah Hargreaves, who helped organise the seven dialogues with officials, said: "The officials have told us it made a huge difference to meet you and hear from you about how the funds could help you and what barriers need to be reduced or removed for this to happen. It has made it much easier for them to put forward your views to their colleagues."
The events were held to find out what young people thought about the activities on offer, the idea of having more control over what activities are offered, how this might impact on their lives and whether they would be interested in being grant applicants or grant-makers. The key barriers to activities identified were cost, availability of transport, timing of the activities, attitudes of adults and lack of information about existing activities.
