The National Youth Agency: Comment - Happy New Year

1 min read
The month of January is, of course, named for the Roman God Janus, the god of gates, doors, doorways and beginnings and endings.

He is depicted as having two faces, one looking forward and one looking behind. And so it has become traditional at this time of year to reflect on the recent past, to take stock, and also to look forward to the coming year.

But I'm not going to do the reflective bit (apart from a nodding reference to the government's early Christmas present of £31m to eight Myplace programmes - a welcome investment in youth facilities at a time when many local authorities are wrestling with difficult budget decisions). I prefer to look forward.

We at the National Youth Agency are approaching the coming year with enthusiasm and optimism. We've successfully restructured and now have in place a strong and talented team ready to take advantage of opportunities to influence the youth agenda and to work to ensure that young people have a strong voice and positive influence on our society.
