Teachers? Youth clubs? Newspapers? Radio? Internet sites? Facebook? No. Almost two-thirds, and the largest percentage by far, say they find out what's happening through friends and family. It might be that some of this communication is online or by text, but what's important is that the agent of communication is known and trusted by the young person. And it is mainly by word of mouth.
We need to remember this when we plan communication strategies with young people. I'm thinking particularly about promoting the "local offer" because it assumes we are able to reach young people effectively in order to tell them about the things that are happening where they live.
