It was the third time that Steve has completed the course over the past 22 years. "I love it," he said. "What a fantastic event - the millions raised for all sorts of fine causes, and the hundreds of thousands of people focusing on the endeavour, indomitable spirit and sheer bloody-minded determination of their fellows.
"Mind you, there was a deal of pride involved there. The prospect of being left behind by a pantomime horse, the devil, a telephone box or a rhinoceros was enough to drive me around, without making sure I didn't let down all my family, friends, work colleagues and local businesses who had been so generous in sponsoring me."
