On a British Council-funded project, Becky was helping a group of young people put together a publication for other young people who want to work in their community. "They've identified a need for a good peer-type tool that will cover everything from how to set up a youth organisation through to all the skills you need, such as administration, fundraising, training and future planning," she explains. "I was there to help them achieve that."
During an intensive week, Becky's main role was to facilitate, capitalising on her previous experience in the UK. The results of the Nigerian group's labour will be an interactive resource that will have broad appeal and adaptability, because many of the young people who will use it cannot read or write. "Part of the challenge is to show those young people that they can still play an active part in their community," says Becky.
