The Henry Smith Charity

1 min read
What is it? The Henry Smith Charity was founded after the death of businessman Henry Smith in 1628.

How much is on offer? Its main grants scheme provides funding of more than £10,000 a year to cover running costs or capital expenditure. Small grants of up to £10,000 are also available. One-off grants of up to £3,000 are available for organisations, schools and youth groups for outings for children under 13 who are disabled or who live in areas of high deprivation.

What will it fund? The Henry Smith Charity prioritises work with groups experiencing social or economic disadvantage and work that tackles problems in areas of high deprivation. It cites projects maximising the potential of young people who experience educational, social and economic disadvantage, including young people in, or leaving care, as an example of areas it would fund.
