
Robert Goodwill heard honing stand-up skills
Government ministers always have to keep an eye on who is around them.
By chance, Ferret recently found himself sat behind children's minister Robert Goodwill on an early morning train bound for Bournemouth where the National Children and Adult Services conference was taking place.
While no state secrets were divulged, Ferret did learn that the minister is rather keen on craft beer, sheep farming and walking, topics he regularly returned to throughout the journey.
But it wasn't all work. The minister had time to practice his linguistic skills. In fact, he proudly recounted to Department for Education officials travelling with him that someone had once told him he spoke Russian like the British spies in cold war films.
