The Community Fund

Youth Justice
What is it? As part of the anti-knife crime campaign It Doesn't Have to Happen, the Home Office is making money available to community organisations in 13 priority areas, to help them tackle young people becoming involved in gun, gang and knife crime. Organisations that show successful results could be funded for three years, up until 2012.

How much is on offer? The total fund is £4.5m over a three-year period. The maximum grant groups can apply for is £10,000 each year and it's hoped that up to 150 organisations can be supported over the next three years.

What will it fund? Opportunities for organisations to work on the effective interventions they know will reach vulnerable young people.

Who can apply? The Home Office is particularly looking for applications from voluntary and community sector grass roots organisations with a track record of working with vulnerable young people to deter them from getting involved in gun, gang and knife crime.
