The Cattanach Charitable Trust

1 min read Early Years
The Cattanach Trust was established in 1992 by Phyllis Cattanach, the last member of a family that manufactured whisky in the Scottish Highlands. The trust makes grants totalling around £400,000 a year.

Cattanach will fund only those charities that are registered in, and conduct their work in, Scotland. It is currently focusing on supporting projects that help children from pre-birth to three-years-old and who are affected by levels of relative deprivation.

What does it fund?

Applicants must be charities that work with children under the age of three and their parents/families, or with parents/families that are expecting a baby. Families experiencing deprivation or in crisis are given priority. Deprivation can relate to low income, poor housing, unemployment, isolation, disability or health problems, lack of family support, young parenthood, contact with the justice system or substance abuse. The trust is particularly interested in projects that work on parenting, attachment, family support and communication within the family to aid the healthy emotional and physical development of young children.
