What is it? Established in 1992, the Cattanach Charitable Trust addresses the needs of young deprived children living in difficult circumstances. Its work is underpinned by its belief that improving children's wellbeing and life chances can create healthier and happier communities.
How much is on offer? Total annual funds of about £300,000 are available. Grants of between £2,000 and £10,000 are usual, and the trust prefers to contribute funds that make up a larger proportion of the project. Most grants are for one year, however it occasionally awards multi-year funds.
What will it fund? The trust focuses on small-scale projects that offer improved life chances for children, especially those under the age of 10, and a better way of life for their families and the local community. Previous recipients include a home-start volunteer project and a community-based activity scheme for young people with behavioural issues. Applicants must demonstrate how their work fits in with other services in their area.
