A shocking proportion of young people are so unhappy they think life has no meaning, according to a survey released this month by the Prince's Trust and YouGov.
Of 2,000 young people surveyed, one in 10 do not think that life is worth living, around a quarter are often unhappy or depressed and one in five say they often or always feel like crying.
The survey also found that around half are regularly stressed and one in four young people say they are less happy now than when they were a young child.
These latest findings raise some serious points about young people's emotional wellbeing and self-esteem, which youth workers are well placed to address through group discussion work.
