Young people might feel they do not meet society's expectations of beauty and that plastic surgery is the solution. Start a discussion about whether it will really help.

Making a good impression when starting college is crucial for young people, but shocking reports from India last month indicated a surge in the number of students turning to plastic surgeons to help make this possible. Recent reports from the US claim that reality TV shows such as Extreme Makeover, which features people who have life-changing cosmetic surgery, are inspiring teenagers to alter their looks.

Start a discussion about plastic surgery. Ask young people if they're happy with the way they look. What would they change if they could? Why? Would they ever consider cosmetic surgery to change the way they look? Why might they consider this? What changes would they expect from it? Do they think it will improve their quality of life? How?
