Tackling homelessness

I would put more resources into local authorities to prevent homelessness. Social services should receive more money to prepare young people in care for independence. I was in care for 12 years and I was fortunate to have great foster carers and then move into supported lodgings via a really good organisation - Merseyside Accommodation Project.

Supported lodgings are where you live with a family and gain skills for independence in a supportive environment. Again I was lucky and got placed with a great family. I know a lot of young people who have been successful in supported lodgings. It's a big responsibility for people and they deserve recognition.
