I recently saw two small boys walking along hand in hand together.
It made me smile. I like to think that the world children grow up in these days is less judgmental than the one I experienced. Good implementation of the personal, social and health education and citizenship curriculum is one of the better ways of achieving this. We now have equal opportunities policies in schools, and solid role models for children from all backgrounds.
So I didn't know whether to laugh or cry when I heard about the recent attacks on the fabulously named SpongeBob Squarepants. For those of you who don't know, SpongeBob is a cartoon character that lives under the sea inside a pineapple. And the cause of controversy? A music video, featuring SpongeBob, being distributed to more than 60,000 schools in the US.
