Back Page: Social Claire - Ignorance about sex is not bliss

1 min read
Claire is outraged when people criticise fpa leaflets for youngpeople.

The recent Bliss survey on young women and sex caused a moral hoohah byciting that 22 per cent of its respondents claimed to be sexually activeby the age of 14. The survey also found that most of these young womenhad little or no knowledge about sex and relationships.

Therefore it seems unfair that the charity fpa has taken a lot of stickover its Love, Sex and Relationships information leaflet for youngpeople aged 13 to 16. It talks openly and realistically about feelings, emotions and avoiding pressure - just the kind of things that childrentell us they don't get a chance to explore in sex education. So why theoutcry?
