Claire reflects on the importance of sex education for all age groups.

Sex and relationships education in the UK - what a kerfuffle.Culturally, we balk at our children knowing "too much", yet we also knowthat sexual ignorance is definitely not bliss.

Young people have confirmed this. They've often experienced patchy sexeducation that has not prepared them for growing up healthy andhappy.

And, until recently, teenage pregnancy rates have reflected this.

My sex education was non-existent apart from the occasional biologylesson.

I daren't ask my mum and, even if I did, I usually got a wronganswer.

I once asked her what bisexual meant, and was told: "Someone who is halfman and half woman."

I attempted to talk to my little sister about the birds and thebees.
