I went to a meeting with senior managers recently to talk about childrenand their participation in our local children and young people's plan.It's a subject that's on many local authorities' minds. But it has to besaid that some are more innovative than others when it comes togenuinely involving children.
I have seen cracking examples around the country, from involvingchildren through forums, to running fun days and video diary projects.And even meetings being scheduled at times when children can attend.
So in I bounced, full of enthusiasm and ideas that the children from ourgroup had come up with. "I think it's vital to get the views of childrenwho normally wouldn't participate in something like this," I began."Those who think it doesn't affect them, or feel no one would take theirviews seriously."
