Ian Johnston, director of the British Association of Social Workers,told the meeting that social work needs to be promoted in the same wayas policing and nursing, by using similar advertising campaigns. "We arevery disappointed that social work tends to be the poor relation toother categories like police and nurses."
Cathi Hadley, assistant director of social work organisation AdvanceChildren's Services, added: "We need to advertise the success of beingpart of the social care workforce."
