Social Care News: Workforce - Conservatives hear the sector'sviews

Representatives from the Local Government Association and the Social Care Institute for Excellence addressed a meeting of the Conservatives' Social Work Commission last week.

Jane Held, an adviser at the association, joined Bill Kilgallon, chiefexecutive of the institute, and Amanda Edwards, its head of knowledgeservices, for the group's second public meeting.

Matters discussed included: outsourcing; making workloads and caseloadsmanageable; and improving social work's image.

It was also announced that Ashok Chand of the University of Warwick'sschool of health and social studies has joined the commission's panel.
