Social Care News: Wales - Joint inspections can be 'divisive'

Inspecting and reporting on adult and children's services at the same time can be divisive, a report into the joint review process in Wales has said.

The study for the Wales Audit Office and the Social ServicesInspectorate for Wales found that reporting on the two services at oncecould lead to resentment in the better performing service.

The inspectorate and audit office have said they will continue to reviewservices at the same time but will talk about the performance of bothservices in their judgment.

The report's author, Professor Roger Clough director of Esk-rigge SocialResearch, said it was "inevitable" that inspections would lead totensions but praised the organisations for altering the process inresponse to feedback.
