Social Care News: Wales - Rhondda Council slammed in report

Children's services provided by Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council are inconsistent and failing to meet the needs of vulnerable families, according to a damning joint review report.

The review, carried out by the Social Service Inspectorate for Wales andthe Wales Audit Office, found inconsistencies across the service forboth children and adults. A major concern was the "fragile" position ofservices for children and families, which are beset with delays incritical decision marking and a lack of appropriately trained staff.

Despite the concerns, the report does concede that the council is takingaction.
