One of Sunderland Council's priorities is to get more families to come forward and think about adopting a child through its "Do something amazing - transform a life" scheme.
Through its children and young people's strategic plan, published last year, it has brought together every objective, action and target relating to children into a single plan. And its Unlocking Potential initiative aims to increase looked-after children's access to education and training.
