60% of looked-after children in year 11 achieved one GSCE at A* to G or a GNVQ in the 12 months to 30 September 2004 (56.1 per cent in England)

94% of looked-after children had their annual health check in the 12 months to 30 September 2004 (77 per cent in England)

8% of looked-after children convicted or subjected to a final warning/reprimand in the 12 months to 30 September 2004 (9.3 per cent in England)

16% of looked-after children with three or more placements in 2003/04 (13 per cent in England)

Mark Gurrey, head of children & families for Thurrock Council's children & family services, said: "Services have been steadily improving and we have worked hard to improve our

fostering service through increased support and improved recruitment."
