40% of looked-after children in year 11 achieved one GCSE at A* to G or a GNVQ in the 12 months to 30 September 2004 (56.1 per cent in England)

12% of looked-after children had three or more placements during 2003/04(13 per cent in England)

430 average gross weekly spend per looked-after child in fostercare in 2003/04 (349 in England)

1,485 average gross weekly spend per looked-after child in achildren's home in 2003/04 (2,048 in England)

South Gloucestershire Council achieved a two-star rating from theCommission for Social Care Inspection in 2004. It said it was servingmost children well and rated its capacity for service improvements aspromising.
