Social Care News: Social care stats - East Riding of Yorkshire

36 out of 10,000 children are looked after (54 in England)

25% of looked-after children accommodated under section 20 of the Children Act (32 per cent in England)

4% of looked-after children in care as a result of family dysfunction (10 per cent in England)

10% of looked-after children under 10 placed for adoption (16 per cent in England)

East Riding of Yorkshire, which covers the towns of Beverley, Bridlington and Goole, has fewer children in care than the national average.

The council's Looking After Children scheme aims to ease a child's entry into care by looking at seven main areas of the child's life: health, education, identity, family and social relationships, social presentation, emotional and behavioural development and self-care skills.
