Kirklees has a good record of placing children for adoption. Around 30 children a year are placed for adoption, even though the majority of these are older children or have a disability. Few babies are placed for adoption.
Most of the rest of the looked-after children are in foster arrangements and at any one time 200 children will be in foster care. Relatively few children live in care homes or hostels.
