Social Care News: Scotland - Executive unveils 15m actionplan

The Scottish Executive has unveiled a 15m action plan to help councils implement the biggest overhaul of social work in 40 years.

The plan is part of a package of measures detailing how councils canimprove their social services functions and follows a commitment tooverhaul social work in the Scottish Executive's 21st Century SocialWork Review, which was published earlier this year (Children Now, 15-21February).

As part of this all children's and family services teams are expected tocomplete a self-assessment form by the end of the summer. This outlinesstrengths and weaknesses of the service and will form the basis for aplan of action to improve services over the next two years.
