The decision to regularly monitor the education of looked-after childrenfollows recommendations from a working group (Children Now, 17-23January).
Kathleen Marshall, Scotland's children's commissioner, said: "I verymuch welcome the Scottish Executive's intent to seek a step change inoutcomes for looked-after children."
Jennifer Davidson, director of The Scottish Institute for ResidentialChild Care, said: "Supporting the educational attainment of children andyoung people is a critical component of foster and residential childcare."
