"We were amazed," says Karen Badger, mum of Christopher, a 12-year-old with cerebral palsy. "We thought they'd put him in a sledge, but his electric wheelchair went straight on the ice. Because of the grip, he was all over the place to start with."

Christopher is one of many young people with a disability in Rotherham to enjoy wheelchair ice-skating. "To watch his face was marvellous and to see him included in things we never thought were possible. It's definitely improved his self-esteem and confidence. In fact, last week he volunteered to go abseiling," adds Badger.
