The Association of Directors of Social Services, BAAF Adoption &Fostering and 25 voluntary adoption agencies asked for the 30 Decemberdeadline for implementing the Act in full to be postponed to allow moretime for training. But correspondence released this week shows that boththe judiciary and Department for Constitutional Affairs ruled out such amove.
It comes as Bruce Clark, head of the looked-after children division atthe Department for Education and Skills, revealed guidance ontransitional arrangements would be published in October.
