Foster Care Associates and The Advisory Centre for Education haveproduced a leaflet that has been sent out to local authorities inEngland and Wales, called Taking Care of Your Looked After Learners. Itwill be sent to the designated teacher with responsibility for childrenin care in schools.
The leaflet provides information and checklists and sets out key areasof responsibility for meeting the Government's guidelines on betteroutcomes for looked-after children.
Tim Whittingham, education director at Foster Care Associates, said:"The leaflet talks about the implications of the Care Matters greenpaper and what teachers should be doing to get the best outcomes forlooked-after children. We hope that people are made aware of what theneeds of looked-after children are."
