Scottish managers receive guidance

A comprehensive training package and clearer guidance for senior managers are among measures launched this week by the Scottish Government to improve the education of looked-after children.

The guidance for designated managers in educational and residentialchild care states that each institution must have an individual tochampion the needs of children and young people.

The Scottish Government has also published the results of a study intolocal authority pilots that examined ways of improving educationalattainment.

Children's minister Adam Ingram said the measures would complementcorporate parenting guidance, These Are Our Bairns, published thismonth.
