Scotland: Sport scheme gets funding to expand

The scheme helps voluntary youth groups deliver sport and other physical activities.

Currently, FIT4IT uses an annual national event and two local co-ordinators in Falkirk and Highland to help youth workers develop activities.

Steven Greig, youth work manager at Youth Scotland, said: "This will improve access to the programme by allowing Youth Scotland's 15 area associations to stage local events. We are also planning to appoint a co-ordinator in Strathclyde."

The Robertson Trust has pledged to provide funding for a development manager, who will be based in Edinburgh.

FIT4IT was launched in 2001 after a survey of Youth Scotland's members.
