Scotland: Young women urged to get active in exercise scheme

The boost comes after youth club network Youth Scotland took over running of the project in April from its funders The Robertson Trust and the Scottish Executive Health Improvement Department.

A review commissioned by the trust suggested the project would work better if it was co-ordinated by a single body.

Girls on the Move encourages 12- to 24-year-old young women to take part in sports, dance and exercise, and enjoy the social, psychological and physical benefits of increased physical activity.

One of its chief aims is to help young women overcome some of the barriers to participating in sport, including a lack of facilities.
