Scotland: Project to urge girls to get more sporty

Girls on the Move has been developed and funded by charitable body The Robertson Trust and the Scottish Executive. It will have 450,000 to run projects over the next three years.

The project includes a funding programme to support youth organisations in developing new programmes that encourage nine- to 18-year-old girls to become more physically active outside school. Between 15 and 20 awards of up to 5,000 will be distributed each year.

The project also includes a leadership programme that will train sporty 16- to 25-year-olds to encourage their less-active peers to take part in exercise.
