Scotland: Confidence centre opens in Glasgow

Training youth professionals in building young people's self-esteem will be a priority of The Centre for Confidence and Well-Being, which will get 150,000 a year from the Scottish Executive.

The centre will co-ordinate workshops, training courses and conferences, as well as produce toolkits allowing professionals to evaluate the effect of confidence-building activities on young people.

Training and development worker Carol Craig, who runs the centre, said: "The fact that many Scots lack confidence has enormous implications for economic growth, as well as their own physical and mental health." The centre's main projects are expected to start from the middle of next year. Its web site is due to be up and running within a week.
